Radio Procedure, Priority Traffic, Panic Button, and Clock-In Policy


1. RADIO DISCIPLINE


Radio traffic shall be professional, short, and clear. Members shall avoid arguing, joking, or talking over emergency traffic.

2. PRIORITY TRAFFIC


Priority traffic may be requested for:
A. Pursuits.
B. Deputy safety.
C. Shots fired.
D. Foot pursuits.
E. Felony stops.
F. Tactical operations.
G. 997 or 999 calls.
All non-emergency radio traffic shall stop until priority traffic is cleared.

3. PANIC BUTTON


A panic button or emergency activation means the deputy needs immediate assistance or is in serious danger. Misuse is a serious violation.

4. PATCH


A patch means a radio frequency or channel connection used for operations or interagency communication.

5. CLOCK-IN POLICY


All personnel on duty must clock in to the department Discord radio/clock system in #clockedin. Members must clock out when ending duty.

6. FORGOTTEN CLOCK-OUT


If a member forgets to clock out, they must contact a supervisor as soon as possible.

7. FALSE HOURS


Lying about hours, intentionally staying clocked in while not on duty, or inflating activity is dishonesty and may result in discipline up to termination.

8. RADIO IDENTIFICATION


Members shall use proper unit identifiers and plain, understandable transmissions.

9. EMERGENCY TRAFFIC EXAMPLE


"Dispatch, 21-David-14, 10-33 traffic, shots fired, deputy needs help, Carson and Main, suspect armed with rifle."
